Globalisation shortens the distance between people all over the world by the electronic communication. The ‘New Media’ offers the opportunity to excess information, to share knowledge, to communicate, to organize, to exchange point of views and widen horizons about different aspects of cultural heritag.
To be able to enter this digital world basic know-how about different media is required. A mixed group of 20 children will be intruduced in the basics of the ‘new media’ like digital photography and videography, using the computer, the worldwideweb and BLOG-writing.
Basics to learn:
-
how to use a computer
-
how to type on the console
-
saving data and opening folders
-
what is the internet and how can you use it?
-
opening an email-account
-
sending messages
-
using digital networking websides for social exchange
-
opening a blog
-
how to use a digital camera and videocamcorder
-
uploading pictures
-
basics about editing the media
Through practicing the children will gain confidence. Their pictures will show their perspective of Delhi’s street life. In addition to the change of perspective (choosing a topic and shooting pictures themself) they can experience, that they can participate in shaping the world through spreading varied experience. This opens new horizons and generates a basic condition for their responsibility for action. We as an auditorium shall be inspired towards critical thinking.
You are invited to exprience how people in India live, work, what different strategies are used in specific surroundings to survive or make a living, how people celebrate, dance and play or how different the climate is or the music sounds. India offers a lot to discover: Differences and unknown, fascinating, terrifying and surprising things, colours, rhythm, language and smell.

Hello,
I´ve just seen your pictures. They´re really good!
I like taking pictures myself and I was on a picture-taking-tour in my home town last week.

Hello to all of you!
Thank you for joining our workshop during your holidays and for being so great the whole time. I hope you had a lot of fun during the last couple of weeks and that you learned something for your future lifes.
We learned a lot from you, your life and your culture. It was a real change of perspectives and an amazing experience to see the world through your eyes. The idea of cultural exchange was realised in the best possible way – through friendship. Thanks to all of you.

I have been volunteering at Salaam Baalak Trust for the last two weeks, and I have seen how much time and thought all the students have put into the project. I am VERY impressed with the work they have done under the guidance of Steffi. Congratulations to all.
